WW1 Vintage Trinity House Pilots Large Pattern Gilt Button

Circa 23.5mm in diameter, fixed shank and maker marked C&J Weldon 130 Cheapside London to reverse. Gilt bright and button in very good condition.

Trinity House pilots were skilled mariners and provided a vital service to ships bound for British ports. The pilotage service usually operated from pilot cutters when transferring to and from vessels.
