SPRING STEEL COUTERS WITH RONDEL IN THE STYLE OF EARLY 14TH CENTURY - BY AVANT ARMOURIES
Raised out of 1.6mm CS70 steel and air hardened, these couters are styled on artwork of early 14th century men-of-arms from England. Featuring a typically English ridge in the centre which is round in form and bleeds away to nothing on either side. Such ridges were common feature on many English armours and becomes more prominent into the 15th century and is becomes seen a lot in the form of vine fluting.
Riveted to the side of each couter is a circular disk or rondel made from 1mm CS70 steel and air hardened. It is lightly convex in shape to increase its strength. Polished to a reflective standard, however grinding marks have been left in to match originals.
A supple red leather strap is mounted with countersunk flush rivets and buckle with teeth based upon 14th Century originals.
The couters measure 145 mm wide , built to fit over a padded arming garment and maille.
If these couters are made to order or should you like ones which are styled differently to these, please email your requirements.

A PAIR OF EMBOSSED LION FACES IN THE STYLE OF 13th / 14th CENTURY
Hand crafted embossed lion styled faces in spring steel by a UK armourer, mounted on yellow leather backing. Available to order, please email me for a quotation.
Forged from 1mm spring steel which has been air hardened, they are incredibly light weight and yet very protective. Suitable to wear laced through maille and appropriate for late 13th century and 14th century armours.
Each face is riveted to a stiff leather backing, dyed yellow to resemble a lion's mane, and with triangular cut outs. Lightly polished and with a long fitted leather thong for attachment to each.
These are attractive hand made shoulder defences, great for embellishing your outfit - giving a knightly persona. Effigies and contemporary artwork show this style of embossed face being worn by English knights in the period of 1250 - 1350 A.D. (C.E.).
